Review: Raf Simons presented his first collection at Dior this afternoon. The Belgian left Jil Sander in March, and takes the helm of this French powerhouse label from fantastic designer Bill Gaytten. What better season to start with than couture. The set is marvelous. Plastering gorgeous peonies on the walls of six different salons. I have to say I am almost brought to tears by the elegance of this collection. The impeccable tailoring is beautiful. The colour palette shouldn't be changed in any way. The sexy silhouette remains from last night's show. The show started out sombre, with impeccably tailored black tuxedos, coats, and dresses, before moving into a lovely ray of colour. Yellows, whites, blacks, and blues were prominent in this collection. Personal favourites of mine were the strapless crop tops with the hem at the back finishing in a long train. Trés magnifique. Surprisingly tie-dyes were featured in this collection. The finale gown was only divine. A strapless long organza and tulle gown with a futuristic pink embroidered front and blue floral embroidered back. WOW... I am so pleased with the result of the collection. It's after setting the bar so high for the rest of the week.
